We had a great New Year's Eve. I took the day off to cook and Christie came over to lend a hand. We did our traditional (this is the second year!) eastern fare - called a Curry Bash. All of my family loves spicy foods so it is a fun way to start the year. And it does take most of a day to prepare it all. We had Bali Chicken made with coconut milk, peanut butter and lots of jalapenos and pablano chilies served with the very hot Bali sauce made with rat tail peppers and onion, Chicken Tikka in a rich spicy sauce served with a garlic chutney, spicy lentil curry, cucumber salad and of course lots of basmati rice. If you would like to see the recipes, just visit "Lucy's Food Blog" under my links. I was having too much fun and didn't think to take pictures to post with them but will cook them again and post pictures.
After dinner we went over to the man cave (Phil's garage and driveway) for a southern New Year's Eve full of tree burning and fireworks. Michael and Casey set off the longest firecracker roll I have ever heard. That thing went on and on and on! And Phil's display of fireworks is always just the best. It was a pretty cold evening but the fire kept us all warm and Kirby and I managed to stay up until the new year. Amazing for these two old farts! Pictures in the dark don't work with my camera so none of those either.
And here is a picture of our Jake curled up with his stuffed animal - trying to recover from the

Sounds like you guys had a very good time on New Year's Eve. The man cave sounds like a great "C" dock substitute! Glad you have that camaraderie close by.
ReplyDeletePoor Jake! That noise is so terrifying for most dogs. I remember and so should Kirby, the New Year's Eve on "C" dock when the little devil dog took off running off the dock into the black of night when all the fireworks started. We all looked for him for hours. He ended up staying out all night. When Ray woke up the next morning, the little guy was sitting in the cockpit!
Our day was very busy - besides having lunch with the Texas contingency, we had 5 deliveries and a business meeting. Our evening was extremely quiet...Ray went to bed early, I watched TV, no fireworks (there is a ban because of fire danger), and the dogs even went to bed early! The rest that evening was welcome. We actually vegged all day on Jan. 1.
Now, it's back to the grind! Have a very happy New Year. I hope it's more prosperous than 2008 for everyone.
