An Old Lady

We had a wonderful day on my birthday! Does that sound strange? The WE part? But WE did....all of us. The family, the dogs, the neighbors and especially me. We started out going to Fuel - which I have talked about here before. I love Fuel. It is just my kind of place...very casual, outdoors, good food, good ale and dogs welcome. We met the Shumbies there and the 5 of us plus 3 dogs made our way to the patio. We all orderd a different drink...I got my favorite - Drifter Ale. The dogs went in circles as much as their tethers would let them and tried to adjust to the new smells and sounds. Jake was especially nervous about all of it. Socks has done this before so she knew a little more what to expect. Lacy is just 10 weeks old - what does she care about anything?? Jake pretty much just layed down and was good. Socks talked to our neighbors about their food!

And talk about food. I had a "to die for" Chorizo Burger"! Never had anything like that before and certainly will have it again! It was fantastic!

Then it was to Shumbies for Fudgie Brownies and the celebration of becoming an even older lady than I was the day before. After the fattening goodies we went next door to see the puppies that Ed and Barb have in their garage. I hadn't seen them in about 3 weeks. I believe that 2 of our friends are each taking one so we will get to watch them grow up along with Lacy. That will be a blast. (Lacy was just "one of the kids" as you can see from this picture!)

It was a really good birthday but I am feeling all of my 63 years! Aren't I lucky to have lived such a rich life?? And there is more to come!

Oh, and I just think this picture of Jake is so funny. He really does not like riding in the car and he really wants on my lap. This was what I saw when I looked back at him!

  2. Oh Suz, I am so bummed that I haven't checked your blog lately causing me to miss your birthday by 3 days! Happy, happy belated birthday!! Sounds like you had a very nice one. Birthdays are a good thing because we are alive to have them, but they are a bummer because we are one year closer to not having them, but that's life and you and I simply take it as it's served up, which is a really good thing. I've known people that get so upset on their b-days that they go into a depression...silly. I say lets's cheer and live life to the fullest to celebrate another one. I'm glad you had a good day, I'm just sorry you didn't hear me sing Happy Birthday to you...on the other hand, maybe you got lucky on that score. Happy Birthday late better than not at all! Let's talk soon my friend.

By the way, that's a great pic of you and Kirby and I just love the pic of Jake.
