Charleston Farmer's Market

I wasn't going to take my camera when we went to the Charleston Farmer's Market. I have some really nice pictures already. But now I am glad that I did! I think I will always find something new to photograph there. Farmer's markets are so lovely and so special!

You can't tell but this was an antique window with a mirror in the back and glass on the front. I loved seeing the reflections through the lovely grassed in the middle.

She made some beautiful wooden bowls!

And you could even buy a bouquet of cotton!

It is definitely strawberry time!

Magnolia Plantation and Gardens

Flowers and color everywhere! We visited Magnolia Gardens this week and I am still in awe of the glorious azaleas! The weather was perfect, there were no bugs and we were allowed to bring Jake. It doesn't get much better!

Pet Fest 2010

What do you think this is?? It sort of looks like a dog but it has a Mohawk and the Mohawk is PINK! It has long whiskers and a very curly tail! Pet Fest was a blast. I have never seen so many dogs in one place in my life!
Poor Jake was overwhelmed by all the smells! He is now sound asleep - it was a BIG day for him!

Turtle

It is worth the click - he is beautiful!

What a treasure this turtle is! He had sand dollars and halibut, a palm tree and sea shells. And can you find the drink cup that was left there from a party the night before? I didn't even see it until I got home and was looking at the picture. Must have been someone with a heart for turtles wanting to share!

Wild Wisteria

I have spent an hour working on my Easter pictures and trying to upload them here and something is wrong with them. So I give up for now and will try again later.

So, in the meantime, this is for my blog friend, Joan. Wild Wisteria. It is now everywhere I look, Joan! You are right, this is a Wisteria Year. The most beautiful of course is the privately cultivated kind, but I love these wild ones growing right next to the train tracks. What is an eye-sore is now beautiful!

The (Un) Happy Easter Bunny (s)

I was out in the yard late yesterday watering the plants when something ran so fast out of the bushes that I couldn't even see what it was - a rat?? I could see where it went and - (mean person that I am) sprayed more water over there and out came a dripping wet ity bity bunny rabbit. He found a corner and just froze - hoping the gods hadn't chosen this time to let him die. I thought he was cute, ran for the camera, took some pictures and then went back to my watering - careful of the little dripping baby. And - oops, here comes another one! This one ran to the big brother (sister?) and tried to cuddle up. Big brother (sister) said "none of that! Go find your own hiding place." I watched, I photographed and I finished my watering. I always did wonder how the Easter Bunny could deliver all those eggs, hide so many and still get it done before morning...know I know - there are TWO! (These two guys will be all grown up next year and ready for the Egg Challenge!)

So, the evening was nice for a change and I talked my 2 men into joining me. I think people always take too many pictures of their dogs, but - what the heck...we love them a lot. I made Jake pose and Kirby would say "Cookie" to get his ears up but I just couldn't really time it right. The best picture he had his eyes closed. Just like his mom!

So then I wanted to take Kirby's picture - he hid under his hat! We are so happy to have spring!

Charleston Farmer's Market

The Charleston Farmer's Market opened today for the 2010 season. No, we didn't go but we will be there next week. The pictures to the top - right are from last season's market. We are so fortunate to have this!!

And More Pollen

No, it is not snow. Although we had more than we needed this year - this car is not coated in nice soft snow - that is pollen. (Not our car - it lives a couple houses down and doesn't ever go anywhere.) It really looks like snow, doesn't it? I am not sure which I would prefer it to be? But since I really don't get a choice in the matter I guess I am really happy to have so much pollen that the car is coated, the hose was coated when I went to water the plants and the screened porch is full and - IT IS EVERYWHERE!! - and I wonder why I wake up at night dreaming that I can't breath?? Ah, Spring! But it is warm!!

And I wonder why my eyes itch, my nose runs and I can't breathe! Silly me! Welcome to the lowcountry......Arizona is looking better all the time!

Pear Tree Blossoms

This is the special time of year when the pear trees still have their blossoms but also have the bright fresh green leaves. So pretty. Isn't spring wonderful!
